I'm going to Germany on May 5 to 19 to visit my sister in Frankfurt. I'm considering buying a Eurail pass for a young, but I'm not sure if thats a good idea if I only visit a few countries and cities. These are the places I want to go to Berlin, Amsterdam, Paris, Dublin, Barcelona and Rome. Could someone help me plan a possible itenarary Europe. These are 5 cities that I really want to go too so I want you take the time to visit. Amsterdam, Dublin, Berlin, Paris and Rome. If I buy a Eurail Pass or train tickets and separate what would be the best price and a good route?
With 13 days, 7 cities in the spread came out too. You asked for a route well, so I would cut out completely Ireland and Italy, focusing on Berlin, Amsterdam, Paris, and perhaps add Munich or Barcelona Salzberg instead this time. Remember it takes time to travel to these places by rail. By focusing your itinerary and using special offers http://www.bahn.de instead of a portion of the railing, I think you'll have a better experience and save a lot money. Rail Pass are convenient, yes, but on long distance trains, you'd have to queue to get a seat reservation, anyway, so why not buy the (cheaper) one ticket? I just see 19 € to Cologne-Amsterdam a few days ago for someone, and seems to € 19 Special applied to a large number of roads with the German railways. If you try this, then save time and money you'll need fly to Italy, Ireland and Spain, to verify the low-cost airlines on these routes here: http://www.whichbudget.com And also consider taking night trains to save on accommodation costs between cities – but not good to do often if you're a light sleeper.

The rail network high-speed rail is one of the European Union three networks European transport, along the road and waterways. The objective of this course is to achieve interoperability of European rail network speed at different stages of its design, construction and operation. The network is defined as a system composed of a combination of infrastructure, fixed installations, logistic equipment and rolling stock.
The high-speed rail is now in Europe as a means of increasingly popular and effective of transport. The first high-speed rail lines in Europe, built between 1980 and 1990, the travel time on improved intra-national axes. Since then, several countries have built extensive high-speed networks, and there are now several cross-border rail links at high speed. Rail operators often in international service, and the tracks are constantly being built and upgraded to international standards on the new European railway network at high speed. In 2007, a consortium of European railway operators, Railteam, emerged to coordinate and boost cross-border rail travel high speed. Develop a trans-European high speed rail network is a declared objective of the European Union and lines Most cross-border railways receive EU funding. Today, only the major Western European countries are "connected" a cross-border high-speed rail network. That will change rapidly in coming years, Europe is investing heavily in tunnels, bridges and other infrastructure projects and development across the continent.
The European rail network was gradually extended to other cities, and in other countries like Switzerland, Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany and the United Kingdom. Due to the adoption Fast broadband railway and the central location of France in western Europe, most other dedicated high speed rail lines in Europe were built at the same speed, voltage and signaling standards. The most obvious exception are the high-speed lines in Germany, which are built German standards for existing train line. In addition, many broadband services, including the TGV and ICE use existing rail lines in addition to those designed for high-speed rail. For this reason, and because of different national standards, trains that cross national boundaries may need to have special features, such as the ability to manage power and signal systems. This means that all European routes are the same, and there are interoperability considerations.
Westeren Europe has no high-speed trains to its own yet. French TGV and German ICE lines extend into Switzerland, but given the dense railway traffic over short distances between cities and often difficult terrain, they are not currently reaching speeds over 160 kmh it. The fastest trains are commuter trains ICN, operated by SBB since May 2000. They can reach speeds over conventional trains on the rail curve intensive, but the top speed of 200 km per hour can be achieved on high speed lines.
