Travel by train from London to Europe. Need help bad!?

I am visiting friends in Portugal this summer and I'm looking to keep my travel costs to a minimum. I can not find a website easy to understand about train travel. Ideally, I would go to London for France to Madrid to Faro … something like that. I'm not particularly interested in stopping it's just a means to an end for me, so any way is fine. I am under 26 but I'm traveling with two others that are both more 26. What are my options? Where would it be less for me to travel? I really need your advice, I've never traveled like this before and would love to hear someone who a. I have a very tight budget.
