Travel routes are often so crammed with activities that we forget time for play and exercise. When Combine busy schedules with decreased physical movement, reduced fluid intake, and strange bed, your system reacts by becoming sluggish. The ultimate negative side effect is a holiday steeped in lethargy.

Effective Planning

Make sure you plan physical activities such as walking, hiking, cycling, swimming or diving.

Easy Exercises

The contraction and relaxation of all muscle groups increases the blood flow in the region. Try the following exercises. Much can be done either sitting or standing in line – waiting in the airport, on the long flights, or while sitting in a bathroom stall. Avoid carpets and floors germy hotel by performing reclining exercises on a bed or a yoga mat.

Buttocks:

Abdomen:

1. Forced pull your abdominals as you exhale. Hold for a few seconds, then relax and repeat. You can do day after day, year dozens of times.

Calves:

1. Do pushups on the bed or against a wall.

2. Concentrate on pulling your shoulder blades while tensing the muscles, then relax. Repeat often on long flights.

3. Packaging a set of dumbbells is not practical when you try keep your luggage light. You can easily configure a weight lifting routine with weights filled with water. An Internet search for "water-filled dumbbell" will find many online stores. A cheap alternative: save the blank when you buy bottled water and use as weights place. A bottle filled with a pint of water weighs about a pound. You will not loose weight with these small, but fast repetitions will give you an aerobic workout.

1. Avoid the elevator when it possible and use the stairs.

2. Walking alone in the strange streets can be intimidating (and even dangerous) in some areas. Instead, the park outside a large shopping center and take a quick tour of window shopping.

3. Instead of watching television from a position sitting or lying down, walking quickly in place, pumping your arms vigorously at the same time.

In addition to the dumbbells full of water mentioned above, consider packing one or more of the following. They will not take up much space in your suitcase or add much weight to your luggage.

Use your imagination

Important

On long flights, get up and walk around as often as possible. This helps keep your circulatory system work effectively and contribute to prevent deep vein thrombosis (DVT).

Do not attempt to introduce an intense physical exercise during your vacation if you're out of shape to start. Check with your doctor, physiotherapist, chiropractor or other health professional about a pre-holiday exercise routine. Ask specifically on exercises in this section to ensure they will not exacerbate existing problems or back injuries.
