Whats the best way for three Englishmen to travel around Europe?
Me and two other friends are looking to travel around Europe next summer for roughly 3 months, we would like to travel by rail to as many countries as possible with as little restriction as possible with regards to where and when we decide to go. I have seen several multi country Rail Tickets that seem perfect but people who live in Europe are not allowed to use them. I was just wondering if anyone knew of any tickets that are designed for people currently living in a part of Europe?
You are talking about the Eurail pass, which is designed for non-European tourists. For Europeans there is Interrail which you could use.

Since there is no interrail pass that allows travel for 3 months you could buy several Interrail passes and put them together as you need them. Be warned though: There are several deals that are less expensive than Interrail, especially the one-country passes. All it takes is some good knowledge of the European train fare system and the willingness to restrict yourself to a rough of schedule or a certain route.
However with 3 people travelling for 3 months in the summer the most economical option would be to take a car and a tent or a campervan.
When you ride the rails you pay for 3 tickets, when you drive a car or a campervan you pay for gas only once. Also when push comes to shove you can sleep in the campervan or the car (if it is an estate car) without paying for accomodation.
