TGV Thalys and questions for the French / Benelux / Swiss travel experts?
Hello, I plan to travel by train from Amsterdam to Paris, and four days later from Paris to Geneva, the connection to Interlaken. Two questions: I wonder if I can travel halfway and stop, then turn again. For example, I can stop in Brussels, lunch, and take the next train without extra charge? Second, who is less expensive: one of three countries Eurail pass or just buy the tickets? Thank you!
When booking a TGV Thalys or to reserve a place, not only on the train. So if you break your journey, you'll find that you will have no place in the next train and will not be allowed to travel. For if you stop in Brussels for a couple of hours you'll need to buy two tickets, one from Amsterdam to Brussels, and another for the next train Brussels to Paris. Point to point tickets can work cheaper than a Eurail Pass, especially if you purchase tickets early. But generally, these tickets are not refundable or exchangeable, which could be a problem if you decide to change your travel plans. That said, if you do some international travel along, it would interesting to compare the full price tickets and the cost of the Eurail Pass.
