europe rail times 2 Europe Rail Times
Europe this summer, need help?

In July, my friend and I are touring Europe. I'm not too sure of travel time and costs. We decided to make a Eurail Global Pass. It seems that for some destinations, the flight would be better. Our itinerary is as follows: Amsterdam Berlin Vienna Brussels Prague London Paris Barcelona Rome Venice, where would it make more sense than to go flying now? And the Rail Pass worth it vs. point-to-point? also could you provide estimates of time from place to place?

Fly from London to the continent, but after that, take the train! In trains you meet real people, not just suits with briefcases. In addition, stations are located in the heart of the cities you want to visit, while airports are in the bush, and you may find yourself paying large sums for taxis in the city. We do not know where you come from – the Eurail Pass is cheaper Americans for Europeans. However, there are many versions of national passes (or two or three country pass) that may be useful for research on the Internet. Finally, all the cities are large (if you go to Rome, Florence does not skip!), but they are all the cities. A major European city is far too similar too another in terms of culture. I invite you to get off the train in some small towns in different countries, so you can see how "real people" live, eat in local restaurants eat in, a glass of wine or beer and watch a football match (soccer!) game on TV at a local bar and join locals in the rooting of the home team, etc. Even if you have more problems finding people who speak English (but you find them – Europeans are far more educated in languages that the Americans or the British), you will find people who go out of their way assist and help, despite the language barrier, and to a degree that you will not find in big cities. [For one thing, because they see fewer tourists, you will be more interesting for them!] You'll have a much more interesting trip, meet more interesting people and learn to see things that most tourists are not. I can not give time estimates, since rail traffic unchanged. However, each European country rail service has a website, translated into English, so it is easy to verify. [Personal bias - if you go to Barcelona, and can find time, go the extra distance Portugal. It's cheaper, historic, beautiful, with good food and wine better and people are warm and welcoming.]
