Is buying a railpass before going to Europe a good idea?
I found a global rail pass Europe railpass.com. I wonder if it's worth the money? And can I buy one when I'm there or should I buy online? I decided to travel for about a month in London – Paris – Amsterdam – Around Germany and Switzerland – Italy – France again – then Spain.
You need to buy online before you go. Visit the websites of several to compare one year or one of the sites gave me one more day for free. I think it was Eurail.com I use http://www.raileurope.com add individual tickets and compare the cost of a pass. I usually arrived lead with a pass, but some trains require supplements, reservation fees, and you must pay extra for berths on overnight trains. One thing is to look if it would be cheaper to get 2-country passes multi. As you can get a Swiss / German and spend Italy / France / Spain Selectpass. Or Benelux / Germany / Swiss Pass PLUS a France / Spain / Italy password. Chance is the Global Pass is the best deal, especially if you are under 26 or if you travel with a friend / s you can get the screen saver password. I love trains! I did travel Eurailpass 10. Loved them all. But book a berth at least one day in advance!
