Do you think the U.S. should invest more in rail transport?
In Europe, the main form of transportation is by rail. They have a great light high-speed rail cars that can go at speeds of 300 miles per hour. Average speed, however, is about half. I think the government should invest more in travel by trains. Think about it: the average high-speed trains could get from Salt Lake City to Las Vegas in about 2-3 hours against 6 hours by car from Seattle or San Francisco in about 6 hours versus 13 hours by car. It seems to me quite logical. Do you that the U.S. should begin to travel by trains and more planes and cars?
Yes, I think they should. But the automobile is closely associated with the American ego that I do not think they will be able to do much. Not unless they make driving so expensive that is beyond the reach of all but the very rich.
