If rail travel in Britain was to be nationalized would it be and could it be as cheap as the rest of Europe?
I spent most of this year traveling around Europe and am amazed at how expensive travel public. More than 4 weeks i managed to train go down the leg of Italy and back north again, across France and England, all for about £ 140 without Europass. As I came to buy a ticket to go from London to Yorkshire, a trip of two hours by train, I was condemed to pay a huge £ 80, double id past in 4 weeks in another country. Why such extreme price?
Because unlike European countries, transport is not top of the agenda. The car lobby is very powerful in the United Kingdom. It is our embarrassment to foreign visitors during the use of British Rail, after seeing how the rail systems in France, Germany, Italy, etc.
